Brick slips

The unmistakable quality of brick,
The easy placement of a brick slip.

Brick slips are mechanically cut from original hand formed facing bricks. In the framework of the Benor and CE norms, the slices of about 2cm thick therefore have the same characteristics as the facing bricks.
They are light and very easy to process.
Brick slips are an ideal solution for, e.g. the renovation of old facades or for covering interior walls.

Thanks to their limited thickness, when used on exterior walls, there is the big advantage that the normal details of windows and doors remain, which prevents unnecessary high adaptation costs. In addition, one can cover exterior corners with corner slips, and thus maintain a half-brick bond. Once joined, one gets the same decorative look as with normal masonry.

Coulours and formats

Brick slips and corner slips are available in all standard colours and formats of the extensive Vandersanden range, from authentic colours to modern and unicoloured bricks. Available formats:

  • M 50 : ± 19 x 2 x 5 cm
  • W 50 : ± 21 x 2 x 5 cm
  • M 65 : ± 19 x 2 x 6,5 cm
  • W 65 : ± 21 x 2 x 6,5 cm

A brick slip is a natural product. Natural to the production process of hand formed facing bricks, there can be slight colour variations in a single baking series. Therefore, always process from various slip boxes at once to get a nice colour nuance. Order the required quantity of slips and corner slips in one go. This is the only way that Vandersanden can guarantee that they are all cut from one and the same baking series.

Processing instructions

Stage 1 + 2: determine the layer size based on the average height of the delivered brick slips, and
put up a string for a clean result.
Stage 3: opt for ready-for-use glue that is appropriate for processing brick slips. Spread this on
the wall and distribute equally with a glue comb.
Stage 4: put glue on the back of the brick slip this ‘double’ gluing assures better adhesive power.
Stage 5: glue it to the wall by pressing hard.
Stage 6: Alternate the slips in the inner corners behind one another. And as a result, one does
not get a disturbing, vertical joint line but rather a beautiful masonry bond.
Stage 7: join the wall
Stage 8: brush off the access sand before the mortar has set and finish with a soft brush.

-Brick slips can be used both outside and inside on any dry, level and stable surface. The base surface must always be free of dust and grease. For exterior use, one must only use frost-proof glue. Please follow the instructions of the glue supplier carefully.

-Brick slips can be best cut by first scratching them with a pointy object at the back before breaking or cutting them with a stone saw or grinding wheel.
